Dead Man Walking

Many have been using this subject line when posting about House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) because the consensus is that his days as Speaker are numbered. I happen to disagree with this prediction because Republicans tend to dig in and deny & lie. But I really don't think that it matters.

Word on the street has it that Republicans won't take the House so Hastert's job is gone anyway. Another reason is that none of his likely successors is clean enough to pass muster and I can't imagine them electing a freshman to be speaker, so I think he's here for the duration... of the campaign.

Anyway, with that being said, "Dead Man Walking" has become his moniker and wouldn't you know it, he stages a press conference with a cemetery as a backdrop! Oh, delicious irony...
