Incompetent Clown

I just read Brad DeLong's post about GWB and working relationship with his advisors:
You see, a President who trusts, values, and respects his advisors doesn't cut them off when they tell him that he is wrong not be interested in policy Y. He listens.
It seems to me that one of the most egregious failings if GWB's is his lack of curiosity for, without it, he doesn't want to know about things, how they work nor what the best way is to accomplish his goals. Finding answers to these questions isn't a satisfying challenge but a frustration for GWB who just wants to enjoy the perks and line his friends pockets and, as a result, we get him demanding simple "solutions" which, of course, don't work. He's childish -- but not in a good Dali Lama-kind of way -- and not surprisingly that makes him a screw-up as a executive.

As Bruce in comments says:
The deeper problem with Bush is not just that he's ideological, incurious and stupid. It is that he, and his Party, are deeply corrupt. Not really troubling to understand anything, and not caring, has freed their tiny minds to concentrate on delivering the dollars. The technocracy is in decline not just because Bush is an ignorant, lazy, stupid fool, but because, at the end of the day, he presides over a government where delivering profits to Halliburton is the dominant concern driving Iraq reconstruction policy.
