I love it when others write what I've been thinking...

I've long held that when people lie about their deeds or motives, they are acknowledging that it's because they won't successfully withstand scrutiny in the bright light of day. The problem with Bush and his cronies is that if they leveled with voters, they wouldn't get elected. Their dilemma is: how do we get people to vote for us when it really isn't in their best interests to do so. The answer as Al Franken tells us in his last couple of books involves: Lies and Fear, Smears, Queers.

From Suburban Guerrilla:

I finally realized why, with each new revelation of BushCo’s immorality, instead of falling into the pit of despair, I only feel lighter and stronger. Here’s why: These are tactics used by losers. They are people who can only rise to power by lying, manipulating and distorting their agenda. They know full well they can’t rally supporters on the basis of their true motives.

That’s why these tactics inevitably fail. People will only give them the benefit of the doubt for so long.

This year, the battle is joined in the open and like the vampires they are, they will run from the sun. Shine on.
