Conservatives and the environment

Josh Marshall has a way with words and I really liked this quote from today's TPM. I'm so old that I can remember when conservatives resisted change. They wouldn't have approved of wrecking the environment. They would have wanted to conserve things. If only the current crop of conservatives had been more resistant to change... within the movement. If only they had been more conservative...
A few days ago Matt Yglesias noted how a refusal to believe that Global Warming exists has become something like an article of faith within what passes today as conservatism, even though there's no logical reason why that should be the case other than the Republican party's current reliance on oil companies for campaign money and how much conservatives have invested in demonizing Al Gore.
